AIA Championships Results
Crown Coliseum, Fayetteville NC
The grand finale of the AIA winter season happened last weekend in Fayetteville. Our Cleveland Open Guard, “A” Guard, Percussion, and World Winds ensembles all performed at this event. Before we talk about results, we’d like to thank everyone who helped out in a thousand ways to make this event a success!
Our Guard groups competed on the first day. Both groups did fantastically well. The ‘A’ Guard finished the day in 6th place with a score of 73.765. The Open Guard took home the GOLD finishing in 1st place with a score of 87.350. Full scores and details can be found at the AIA website here. The Open Guard also did a run through for Friends and Family on Tuesday before leaving for the WGI Championship event in Dayton. If you missed the run through, you can see it on the Members page (Note: you must be logged in to view.)
Next up was our Open Percussion group. What makes this group amazing is that they are also the percussion section for World Winds, which means they had to learn and perfect two shows this season – not just one. This group came in 5th place in class with a great score of 82.300. Full scores and details for all the percussion performances can be found at the AIA website here.
Finally our World Winds group performed. This group has a very complex show this and to add to the challenge, there have been many, many changes made during the year. These students performance is precise and they have adapted to every change. World Winds took home the GOLD finishing is 1st place with a score of 88.250. You can see all the details and winds scores at the AIA website here.
CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE for a very successful AIA season!
Next up the Open Guard is off to Dayton Ohio for the WGI Color Guard World Championships.
