Commitment Form

Welcome to the Cleveland Arts Performance Ensemble! In order to plan for the 2020 fall season, we need to confirm your intention to join our competition marching band. Your acknowledgment of this form and a nonrefundable deposit of $190 will hold a spot for you in the competitive band program. The deadline to sign-up and pay the deposit is June 1, 2020.

The Cleveland High Performance Ensemble is nationally-recognized and performs at the highest level of competition. This is only possible through hard work and dedicated support. You and your family are committing to a rigorous practice and competition schedule, as well as a substantial financial obligation. All marching band students are expected to attend band camp, after school rehearsals, and all competitions. Marching Band camp is July 20-24, July 27-31, and August 3-7. After school practice is Tuesday and Thursday from 2:45 pm until 6:00 pm. Dates for other practices and many more details about the band program are available on our website. In addition, competition weekends typically begin in September and run through October. Most competitions require your presence all day and evening Saturday, and overnight trips usually require your presence Friday – Sunday.

The financial obligation, which we call our “fair share”, is $1,090 and is determined yearly based on the group’s competition schedule and approved budget. ALL FAIR SHARE PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. The $190 commitment deposit due is part of the total financial obligation.

The Cleveland High School Band Parent’s Association provides many fundraising opportunities for your family if a cash payment is not possible. There are fundraisers going on now; see our website for details and/or email vp@clevelandhigh.band. Additionally, we host Cleveland Critique and Competition in September which requires a substantial number of volunteers from our band families and is our largest fundraiser.

If I choose the no-payment option, I understand that my student will not be included in, or travel with, the competitive Marching program (show), but may practice as an alternate in the discretion of the Band Director(s). I understand that only the competitive Marching program performs on the field at half-time at football games.
